    The Analytics Academy (TAA) was chosen as a nominee for ICT Trainer of the Year by the general jury of the Computable Awards 2016. TAA is a collaboration between the University of Amsterdam (UvA), Amsterdam Data Science (ADS) and ORTEC. The Academy provides training in Big Data, Data Science and Business Analytics for both commercial, non-commercial and government organizations.     Operations Research specialists love a good puzzle and there are plenty of awards rewarding talent in the industry. One of these prizes is Quintiq’s ComBUStion Challenge. Quintiq is our competitor and a company we have a great deal of respect for. So when they recognize OR talent, we pay close attention - especially if the winner is one our colleagues! Last month, our new OR Specialist Bart Beemsterboer won Quintiq’s ComBUStion Challenge and was awarded the first prize – an iPad Mini. It was a tough competition, with people all over the world attempting to solve the puzzle in record time. We wanted to take this opportunity to congratulate Bart and share a bit more about his experience.

    Goos Kant Professor in Business Analytics, combines his Professorship with his role as director at ORTEC

    On 1 September the new Graduate School for Data Science and Entrepreneurship will be opening its doors in Den Bosch. The course arises from a partnership between the Universities of Eindhoven and Tilburg, established in response to the strongly growing demand for data scientists and aimed at stimulating self-employment. It combines Eindhoven’s technical knowledge with Tilburg’s social sciences expertise and is delivered in the unique surroundings of the renovated Mariënburg convent in Den Bosch. In order to make the course attractive internationally, only the most renowned scientists have been chosen to deliver the course, including Goos Kant from Tilburg University.
